The Church of the Annunciation in Elma will host its annual summer picnic Aug. 16-18 on parish grounds, located at 7580 Clinton St.
Festivities begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16. Highlights include a full food court menu; Kids Zone from 6 to 7 p.m; a blessing of bikes, motorcycles and riders with St. Christopher medals at 6:30 p.m. on the driveway in front of the church; and live music by the DoubleShot party band from 7 to 11 p.m.
Grounds open at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, when highlights will include Annunciation’s famous chowder sale beginning at 1 p.m., a full food court menu, Kids Zone, a 4 p.m. Pork Chop Dinner in Selbert Hall, and live music by The Water Dogs alternative rock from 3 to 5 p.m. and Nerds Gone Wild from 7 to 11 p.m.
On Sunday, Aug. 18, Mass will be offered at 8 and 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Picnic grounds will open at noon and daily highlights will include a full food court menu; Annunciation’s famous chowder sale; a Wendel’s Chicken BBQ in Selbert Hall beginning at noon; a Classic Car Show from 1 to 4 p.m.; Kids Zone; and live music by BackBeat ’64, a musical tribute to The Beatles, from 1 to 5 p.m.
Special weekend raffles will include a $5,000 Grand Prize giveaway ($500 second prize, $250 third prize), Amish quilt, wooden glider and bird house handcrafted by the St. Joseph Workers, 100-plus theme and grocery baskets, a split club, booths and more!
Annunciation’s Kids Zone will feature games, a bounce house, music, cotton candy and snow cones! Food court offerings will include steamed clams, corn on the cob, salt potatoes (Friday only), Italian sausage, fried bologna, chicken on a stick, corn dogs, grilled chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, Polish sausage, French fries and sweet potato fries.
