Annunciation’s 88th annual picnic to take place August 15-17

Ample free parking will be available in the church, school and Schwartz Road parking lots.

The Church of the Annunciation in Elma will host its annual summer picnic Aug. 15-17 on parish grounds, located at 7580 Clinton St.

Festivities will begin on Friday, Aug. 15, with a an Assumption Holy Day Mass at 5 p.m., with the festival grounds officially opening at 6 p.m. A 6 p.m. blessing of bikes, motorcycles and riders is also planned in front of the church. There will be a full food court menu plus Deep Fried Shrimp and Bang Bang Shrimp specials. Double Shot will perform in the beer tent from 7 to 11 p.m.

On Saturday, Aug. 16, Annunciation will serve a delicious pork chop dinner in Selbert Hall from 4 p.m. until sold out. Additionally, the church’s famous chowder sale will take place beginning at 1 p.m., eat in or take out! Beer tent entertainment will include The Water Dogs and The Funkensteins.

Masses will take place on Sunday, Aug. 17 at 8 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., with picnic festivities running from noon to 6:30 p.m. The chowder sale will resume at noon, and a Chicken BBQ will also be offered from noon until sold out. Backbeat ’64, a musical tribute to the Beatles, will entertain in the beer tent, while the Classic Car Cruise returns from 1 to 4 p.m.

Other picnic highlights include a continuous food court all three days, a grand drawing on Aug. 17 with a first prize of $5,000, theme baskets, a hand-quilted Amish quilt raffle, grocery drawings and more! A Kids Area will feature games, activities, a bounce house, cotton candy and snow cones.
