Author Jennifer Subjeck-Fedus to visit Dog Ears Bookstore on September 17

Aug 31, 2023 | Events

Dog Ears Bookstore & Café will host a book launch and signing event with author Jennifer Subjeck-Fedus from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at the nonprofit community bookstore located at 688 Abbott Road, Buffalo.

Born and raised in Buffalo, Jennifer is the proud mother of two kids, a wife, and a chronic illness warrior. Founder of the 123 Momsquad Podcast, she is also a dynamic entrepreneur and mom coach. With the publishing of her children’s book, The Adventures of Spiki & Alien, she has now fulfilled her dream of becoming an author.

Jennifer’s love for creativity started early on. When she wasn’t dancing, she loved to create anything and everything – drawing, sewing, coloring and writing poems kept her busy. She joined her family business after high school and worked alongside her father for over a decade.

After having her second child, Jennifer decided to leave the family business to love and care for her growing family. Her children learned quickly that their mom enjoyed coloring and creating, just as they did. They also took note of two certain characters that she left everywhere they went; they appeared on every birthday and Christmas card, napkins at restaurants, and pretty much anywhere she went!

The first character was created on her classroom chalkboard while waiting for her bus to be called. She couldn’t wait to get home to draw him again, so she wouldn’t forget him. The following year, the second character came to life. Right then and there she knew these characters were special. They became her life’s brand.

It was always a dream of hers to have them in a children’s book, but the timing was never right.  It wasn’t until the pandemic that Jennifer had the opportunity to work on her dreams. She started a podcast, took some courses and worked on her overall well-being.

Jennifer suffered from several chronic illnesses for over 20 years. After many surgeries, suffering from endless chronic fatigue and pain, and countless hospital visits, she realized that she’d been struggling for way too long and decided to take no more.

From that moment, Jennifer stopped letting her chronic illnesses define her and began to manage her symptoms and love her life again! One of her main passions is helping others, so through her work she seeks to support all the moms out there who are suffering from chronic illness and chronic pain. Jennifer sees herself as a brand that inspires women everywhere to lean into the power of positivity and togetherness. It is her goal to promote the impact of lifting one another up, even on the bad days!

Jennifer is excited about making this book into a series, hoping to put smiles on children’s faces across the globe. Spiki & Alien will experience some fun adventures and meet new friends along the way.

Believing that all things have the right time and place, Jennifer was so happy that she could share this process with her children. They were excited to be able to help with the expressions and colors and get to see these characters come to life. This has been the best part of the whole process thus far, she notes.

Passionate about her work, Jennifer credits her success to dedication, drive and perseverance. For more information, please visit her website at 123momsquad.com.
