The Buffalo Bandits will host the team’s Native American Night during the game on Friday, March 3 against the Rochester Knighthawks.
The event will be highlighted by the presentation of a $1,000 scholarship to a student of Native American descent living in Western New York or Southern Ontario. Other special activities for the night will include traditional Native American music and dance ceremonies.
A special ticket offer will also be available for the game, with seats in the 100 Level ends discounted to $25, and seats in the 300 level set at $15. A portion from each specially priced ticket will benefit Native American Community Services. The ticket offer can be redeemed at Bandits.com/NativeAmericanNight.
The Bandits are currently accepting applications for the scholarship, which is open only to students currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. Those eligible to apply for the Buffalo Bandits Native American Scholarship should send an application along with the following:
• Completed application form (can be found online)
• A copy of the student’s most recent transcripts
• A letter of recommendation from a faculty sponsor or employer
• A one-page essay describing why the student should be awarded this scholarship and what it would mean to him or her.
A selection committee composed of members of the Buffalo Bandits organization will choose the scholarship winner. The winner will be notified and should be available to accept the scholarship at a ceremony held at the Bandits game at KeyBank Center on March 3.
