Thanks to the ongoing efforts of Audrey Hamernik and Support Our Troops — and a little help from some local businesses and individuals — servicemen and women from Western New York currently serving in the Middle East will be receiving a nice surprise in the near future.
Care packages containing comfort items for our troops — such as snacks, candy, gum, personal hygiene items, baby wipes and sunblock — were recently collected at Chakra, a business solutions provider located in Lancaster, and Spot Coffee West Seneca. On the morning of Aug. 24, Hamernik joined Chakra employees at their Lancaster facility to sort perishable and nonperishable items and package everything in boxes for the long journey across the globe.
In addition to collecting two pallets full of goods, the drive also generated financial support from Western New York Federal Credit Union in West Seneca, GEICO Local Office at the Southgate Plaza in West Seneca, and Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Gainey, and promotional support from the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce.
Shipping the goods to the Middle East is very expensive, and donations to help offset shipping costs are always needed and appreciated. For more information, please contact Chakra CEO Joe Griffin at 517-5124.
