A Christmas tree auction held from Dec. 4-12 in the West Seneca Community Center & Library raised a total of more than $2,000 for two West Seneca-based nonprofit organizations, The SPCA Serving Erie County and Kids Escaping Drugs. The event was organized by the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary and Woman’s Club.
Ten artificial trees were “adopted” and decorated by local organizations and companies and then auctioned off to the highest bidders. One hundred percent of the money raised was donated to the two organizations.
A check for $1,100 was presented to The SPCA Serving Erie County on Monday, Dec. 21, while $1,200 was donated to Kids Escaping Drugs on Tuesday, Dec. 22. The $100 difference was the result of the GEICO Local Office in the Southgate Plaza winning the “favorite tree” vote for their Grinch-themed tree, and donating their $100 prize to Kids Escaping Drugs.
Additionally, the West Seneca Lions Club presented checks for $50 to each of the recipient organizations.
West Seneca’s service organizations would like to thank the following event sponsors for their generosity: Gardenville Blooms, GEICO Local Office West Seneca, Jerry & Arlene Hathaway, Shell Fab Countertops & Casework, Western New York Federal Credit Union and 716ProClean.
