Community groups accepting bids on decorated trees and holiday artwork

At 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, West Seneca’s community service organizations will begin accepting bids on 10 beautifully decorated Christmas trees and 20 pieces of artwork donated by members of the West Seneca Art Society. The trees and artwork are on display for public viewing in the atrium of the West Seneca Community Center & Library located at 1300 Union Road. 

A Preview Night will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, in the Community Center & Library. Tickets are $25 each and just a few remain. The event will also include food and beverage stations, live holiday music by Grace Greenan, a separate silent auction and more. West Seneca service organizations participating in this unique holiday fundraising event include the Art Society, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, Rotary Club and Woman’s Club. Proceeds from the event will benefit the West Seneca Historical Society, Firemen’s Memorial Exhibit Center of WNY and the Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service.

The themed trees were decorated by the following groups: West Seneca Chamber of Commerce, Money Tree; Kiwanis, Movie Tree; Lions, Vision Tree; Rotary, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Tree; Woman’s Club, Candy Cane Tree; WNY Federal Credit Union, Buffalo Bills Tree; GEICO Local Office West Seneca, Peppermint Tree; West Seneca Historical Society, Old Fashioned German Christmas Carols Tree; Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service, Reading & Radios Tree; and West Seneca PBA, Nordic Christmas Tree.

Artists who donated pieces of art for the auction include: Lucette Banas, Eileen Beacham, Veronica Benes, Erin Burke, Tom Dalbo, Alex Denisco, Barbara Ghirsig, Joe Kirchmyer, Paulette Krakowski, Fran Lagana-Brooks, Diane Menchetti, Nancy Richert, Susan Sanborn, MaryLou Scherer, Pat Seiss, Bernice Smith, Cindy Solly, Deb Terzian and Heidi Zanelli.

There are three ways to bid on the trees and artwork:

1. Send a private message to the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.

2. Call the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce at 674-4900.

3. Fill out a bid form at the table outside the Chamber of Commerce office in the West Seneca Community Center & Library at 1300 Union Road.

Bids will be accepted until noon Wednesday, Dec. 15. Bid updates for all trees and artwork will be shown daily on the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. The minimum opening bid is $100 per tree and $25 per piece of artwork.

The winning bidders can remove their trees and artwork from the Community Center beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16 by contacting the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce at 674-4900. Removal is the responsibility of the winner. The trees are six feet tall.

Sponsors of the event include Christmas Central (tree donor), Gardenville Blooms, GEICO Local Office West Seneca, Jerry and Arlene Hathaway and the Western New York Federal Credit Union.
