Children’s book author and illustrator Wende Essrow will visit Dog Ears Bookstore & Café, 688 Abbott Road, Buffalo, for a special event at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27. Essrow will be sharing her latest children’s book, “Where’s Your Belly, Nelly?” She will also help children in attendance make paper bag puppy puppets to go along with the story.
“Where’s Your Belly, Nelly?” is Essrow’s third children’s book. She collaborated with local artist Bernice Smith on this sweet story. Essrow has also written and illustrated “The Paintbrush Dreamer” and “If You Listen to the Trees.” Her latest book is about a puppy who just could not learn anything about obedience training. Nelly, the puppy, has learned only one thing — that she loves tummy rubs! She steals the reader’s hearts and is a sweet reminder of what is important in life.
