Summer reading and writing camps for kids and teens will be offered this summer at Dog Ears Bookstore & The Enlightenment Literacy Arts Center, located at 688 Abbott Road, Buffalo.
A free Summer Reading & Writing Camp for Kids begins on June 26. Sponsored by South District Councilman Chris Scanlon, this camp will feature reading and writing activities, games and more, with all activities aligned with Common Core and New York State Standards in Education. Participants must reside in Councilman Scanlon’s district (14220, 14210, 14206).
Held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, this camp will be offered from June 26 through June 30 for 7 and 8 year olds, July 17-21 for students ages 9 to 11, and July 10-14 for students ages 12 and 13.
A free Summer Reading & Writing Camp for Teens will be offered from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday evenings, July 6 through Aug. 24. This program is designed for high school students who will discuss, dissect and gain a deeper understanding of summer reading books.
Erie County Youth Services will sponsor a second Summer Reading & Writing Camp for Kids that is free to all Erie County residents. Held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, this camp will be offered from July 24-28 for 7 and 8 year olds, July 31 through Aug. 4 for students ages 9 to 11, and Aug. 14-18 for students ages 12 and 13.
