The popular Elmwood Village Farmers Market, featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the corner of Elmwood Avenue and Bidwell Parkway in Buffalo’s historic Elmwood Village. A program of the Elmwood Village Association, the open-air market runs rain or shine through November.
Entertainment on Sept. 15 will feature Rockabilly Steve and BR3 from approximately 9:30 to 11 a.m. and Birdie Cree from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Hosting the market’s community group tables will be Magic’s Mission Beagle and Hound Rescue Inc., Big Big Table, Niagara Frontier Plein Air Painters and Native American Community Services.
Again this year, the market will act on its mission to provide increased access to fresh, healthy food by offering an EBT program. The market’s Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system allows individuals and families receiving public assistance to purchase products from eligible market vendors. Please visit the Elmwood Village Association tent for details.
“Double Up Food Bucks” is back for a fifth season. The program provides low-income individuals who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits with a $1 for $1 match — up to a $20 match — to purchase fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables. Please visit the market’s Elmwood Village Association table for details.
