A wide variety of classes and events are planned at Enjoy the Journey Art Gallery, located at 1168 Orchard Park Road in West Seneca.
Acrylic painting with Bernice Smith will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays during January and into February beginning Jan. 17. This class is for beginners to intermediate students looking for something new or a new way to look at acrylic painting. Classes will continue on Jan. 24, 31 and Feb. 14 and the cost is $80. Snow Flake Design with a Zentangle Twist, a class with artist Kelly Barone, will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19. In this class participants will create gorgeous Zendalas that are reminiscent of snowflakes on a piece of 8×8 paper. Students will want to bring an eraser to this class as well as their mini kits and white pens if they have them. The cost is $35.
A Wet Felting Vessel class with fiber artist Suzanne O’Brien is planned from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28. Try something new and wet felt a bowl from wool! In this class participants will create a centerpiece bowl for their table. O’Brien will supply all of the hand-dyed wool and silks for this wonderful vessel workshop. The wet-felted vessel will be constructed in the colors of your choosing. All supplies will be included for this workshop for a fee of $60 per person.
“Create It!” is February’s exhibit and features the work of Academy of Visual Arts students from West Seneca West and West Seneca East high schools. Come and meet the young artists during an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3. The exhibit will remain on display until Saturday, March 4.
A Collector’s Basket class with Maureen Quale will be offered from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 25 and March 11. If you have never weaved a basket of your own, you must try it! Quale will take you step by step to create a beautiful heirloom piece. All supplies are included and the cost is $65.
The gallery has issued a call for artists for its March exhibit, “Nature Meets Art.” Open to all artists in all mediums, artists may submit two pieces of artwork exhibiting nature. A prospectus is available on the gallery’s website, and the cost is $25 per artist for two pieces of artwork. Drop-off dates are March 3-4, with an opening reception on Friday, March 10.
Exhibition space is available at Enjoy the Journey for area artists looking to have an exhibit in 2017. Exhibits feature three rooms with 71 linear feet of space, advertising, reception and more. Please contact gallery owner Paulette Krakowski at 675-0204 for details.
