Foster care volunteers needed at SPCA Serving Erie County

Feb 24, 2024 | Lifestyles

Foster care is a program specifically designed to place animals into temporary homes where they can receive the care they need.

The SPCA Serving Erie County has an immediate need for foster care volunteers. By becoming a foster parent, you can help us save the lives of countless animals in need.

Each year, thousands of dogs, cats, and other types of animals come into the SPCA and are not ready to be put up for adoption. Foster care is a program specifically designed to place those animals into temporary homes where they can receive the care that they need.

“It doesn’t cost a thing to become a foster parent,” said Foster Care Lead Sarah McEvoy. “The SPCA covers veterinary care and all food, supply, and equipment costs associated with its foster care animals. The best part about fostering is that when the animal is ready to go up for adoption, the foster parent or a family member or friend has the first opportunity to adopt before the animal hits the adoption floor!”

Those interested in becoming foster parents can find more information about how to get involved by going to YourSPCA.org/FosterCare. Interested candidates can also contact the SPCA’s Foster Care Department by calling (716) 875-7360, ext. 216, or by emailing fo********@yo******.org.
