Foster care volunteers needed at SPCA Serving Erie County

Feb 26, 2023 | In the News

The SPCA Serving Erie County, located at 300 Harlem Road, West Seneca, has an immediate need for foster care volunteers to help save the lives of animals in need.

Each year, thousands of dogs, cats, and other types of animals come into the SPCA and are not ready to be put up for adoption. Foster care is a program specifically designed to place those animals into temporary homes where they can receive the care that they need.

“The SPCA covers veterinary care and all food, supply, and equipment costs associated with its foster care animals,” says SPCA Director of Capacity and Care Hilary Lemperle. “The best part about fostering is that, when the animal is ready to go up for adoption, the foster parent or a family member or friend has the first opportunity to adopt before the animal hits the adoption floor!”

The SPCA is looking for volunteers ages 18 years old or older. Those interested in becoming foster parents can apply online at YourSPCA.org/FosterCare. Interested candidates can also contact the Foster Care Department directly by calling (716) 875-7360, ext. 216 or by emailing
