Help is available 24/7 for people living with or caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.

The Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will hold an educational program in Cheektowaga on common safety concerns for people living with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.

The free program, “Safety Considerations,” will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 5, at the Cheektowaga Senior Center, located at 3349 Broadway.

“Taking measures to improve the safety of those living with dementia can help families feel confident in their ability to provide care in their home, prevent injuries and prepare for incidents of wandering,” says Andrea Koch, director of education and training at the WNY Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Facilitators will discuss the most common safety concerns, including driving, getting lost/wandering, and home safety, and the free safety resources available through the WNY Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Participants are asked to register by calling 800-272-3900.
