New exhibits, a Garden Art event and a wide variety of classes and workshops are planned at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, 1168 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca.
The “Collage, Digital and Mixed-media Mania!” exhibit will kick off with an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 2. More than 45 pieces of creative, imaginative artwork will be displayed in all three medias. The exhibit will remain on display through June 24.
Acrylic Painting with artist Bernice Smith will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evenings June 6, 13, 20 and 27. This class is designed to make learning about acrylic painting fun and to give some pointers to make learning the medium stress-free and enjoyable. This is not a cookie-cutter class where everyone paints the same thing in steps, but a way to start learning how to handle the paint on your own terms and at your own speed. A supply list can be found on the gallery’s website, and the cost is $80.
A Wool Clutch Purse class with fiber artist Suzanne O’Brien of ZanieCrafts will be offered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 10. The cost is $50 and includes all supplies. Wet felting is a process by which wool roving transforms into a nonwoven textile, a felted fabric. With simple materials and a little hard work, participants will create a wool clutch purse made from hand-dyed Merino wool roving. This purse can be used to store small crafting notions in your creative space, or for your next night on the town!
Several Enjoy The Journey artists will take part in Cocktails & Canvas at The Roycroft Inn, 40 South Grove St., East Aurora, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14. The event will feature live music, beautiful artwork, hot and cold appetizers and an open bar!
The annual Garden Art Saturday event supporting the gallery’s High School Student Scholarship Fund returns from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17. This event will feature creative, funky, whimsical and beautiful pieces of artwork from local artists to decorate your patio walls, garden, porch, yard, fence or deck!
An opening reception for the next member’s exhibit, “Influence of the Masters,” will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 30. This exhibit will feature the work of local professional and emerging artists, and guests are invited to meet the artists and view and discuss their artwork.
A Wet Felted Vessel class with added surface details, taught by fiber artist Suzanne O’Brien, takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 10. Try something new and wet felt a bowl from wool! In this class guests will create a centerpiece bowl for their table. The instructor will supply all of the hand-dyed wool and silks for this wonderful vessel workshop, and the wet felted vessel will be constructed in the colors of your choosing. The cost is $60.
