Over the recent Memorial Day weekend, West Seneca Middle School students Shelby Snyder, Gabbi Flipinski, Reagan Zagara and Amanda Seibert joined Social Studies teacher Lori Mancuso (and her daughter, Gabby) and Board of Education Member Larry Seibert in volunteering at the first annual Project 33 Memorial Run in Hamburg, a community run to raise awareness for special operations members who were killed in action.

The run began at Hamburg Beach and ended at Hamburg Brewing Company, for a total distance of 6.63 miles. This year’s race honored SPC Kristofor T. Stonesifer, a member of the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, and one of the first soldiers to be KIA in Operation Enduring Freedom. He was killed in action on Oct. 19, 2001, after his helicopter crashed.
