KIA, Ford and GM issue technical service bulletins

Some major service bulletins have crossed my desk recently …

KIA Technical Service Bulletin

The problem: The UVO telematics system in affected vehicles exhibit a condition where the incoming ring volume of incoming calls is too loud. Additionally, the Bluetooth connectivity and voice recognition is shaky.

Corrective action: Dealers will upgrade the UVO system software, which eliminates the condition.

Warranty info: This service campaign is being performed free of charge under the KIA new vehicle warranty.

Ford Technical Service Bulletin

The problem: Affected vehicles may exhibit a crank/no-start, stalling, and/or a lit check engine light on the dash. Upon a diagnostic scan, the following trouble codes may be present in the engine control module: P0230, P025A, P0627, U0109, P0201, P0202, P0203, P0204, P0205, P0206, P0207, and/or P0208. This condition may be due to an improperly located 20-amp fuse, which exposes it to excess heat.

Vehicles affected by this service campaign:

  • 2009 Ford F150
  • 2010 Ford F150
  • 2011 Ford F150
  • 2012 Ford F150
  • 2013 Ford F150
  • 2014 Ford F150

Corrective action: Dealers will diagnose the condition and, if confirmed, relocate the F27 20-amp fuse, and clear the codes from the system, which eliminates the condition.

Warranty info: This service campaign is being performed free of charge under the Ford limited new vehicle, extended, or federal emissions warranty, whichever applies.

GM Technical Service Bulletin

The problem: Affected vehicles may exhibit a condition where the audio system exhibits multiple conditions including: the radio is inoperative, the screen is blue, AM clipping noise in talk stations, GPS compass is pointed to north only, and other anomalies indicating that the audio system is malfunctioning. This may be due to a software glitch in the radio.

Vehicles affected by this service campaign:

  • All 2015-16 GM Passenger Cars & Trucks

Corrective action: Dealers will diagnose the condition. If confirmed, update the audio system software, which eliminates the condition.

Warranty info: This service campaign is being performed free of charge under the GM limited new vehicle warranty.
