Feb 22, 2023 | Sports Scene

The Rochester Knighthawks and C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association are once again teaming up to host C.U.R.E. Cancer Knight, presented by Marc & Roberta Johnson of Cornerstone Wealth Management, on Saturday, Feb. 25 when the Knighthawks take on the New York Riptide at 7 p.m. at Segar & Sciortino Field at The Blue Cross Arena.

“Partnering with the Rochester Knighthawks is such a treat for our families,” said C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association Executive Director Holly Dutcher. “Thanks to the kindness of Marc and Roberta Johnson from The Cornerstone Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, our families have a fun night out where they can connect with other pediatric cancer and hematology families. By increasing awareness of pediatric cancer and our organization in the community, we are making our support and services more available to local families.”

“We’re excited and honored to renew our partnership with C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association and aid in their never-ending mission of providing critical support and resources to local families affected by this terrible disease,” said Knighthawks Vice President of Business Operations Rob Minter. “The organization works tirelessly every day in improving the lives of pediatric cancer patients and their families and we’re grateful for all that Holly and her staff continue to do for the community.

Headlining C.U.R.E. Cancer Knight are the special white road jerseys the Knighthawks players will wear in support of pediatric cancer patients and their families, each lined with the names of loved ones for those who have battled or are currently battling cancer. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase the jerseys through an online auction on DASH, a sport-focused online auction platform and partner of the Knighthawks, with all proceeds from the auction donated to C.U.R.E. Childhood Association.

To access the auction, fans can visit www.rochesterknighthawks.com/auction or text “DASH” to 66866, click on the download link and install DASH on your mobile device. Fans can then create their own personal profile and select the Knighthawks as their favorite team to start bidding. The auction opened on Feb. 21 and will accept bids through 10 p.m. the night of the game. Winners will then be contacted directly.

In addition to the jersey auction, C.U.R.E. Cancer Knight T-shirt and Ticket Packs, which includes a limited-edition T-shirt and ticket to that night’s game, are available for $30 and can be purchased online by visiting www.rochesterknighthawks.com/cureshirt. Proceeds raised will be donated to C.U.R.E. Childhood Association to help in the fight against childhood cancer. T-shirts will be available for pick-up exclusively for Saturday’s Knighthawks game.

The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a pair of C.U.R.E. sunglasses. Prior to the game, the Knighthawks will hold a bell-ringing ceremony to celebrate the end of treatment for C.U.R.E. child Dylan Smith as well as a special ceremonial face-off featuring two of the C.U.R.E. kids. The team will also honor several other pediatric patients with video tributes throughout the night.
