The nonprofit organization Comforting Hugs strives to bring comfort and support to children with life-altering illnesses or disabilities. The hospital rooms where these children spend a lot of their time lack the comfort that a home provides.
In order to try to compensate for the gloomy feeling a hospital can have, Comforting Hugs provides children a homemade fleece blanket and pillowcase as well as a care bag full of items such as snacks, lip balms, hand sanitizer, coffee cards for the parents, and age appropriate toys like crayons and coloring books. The hopes of the Comforting Hugs Foundation is that by providing these items to the children they can brighten their day and possibly even put a smile on their face.
Over the course of the past few weeks, West Seneca West National Honor Society members have worked to collect hundreds of items to donate to the Comforting Hugs Foundation. Members of the Honor Society brought in items from hand sanitizers to crayons that are going to be put into the care bags. The Honor Society is thankful to have had this opportunity to give back to their community!
