Mary Queen of Angels School prepares for Catholic Schools Week, open house events

Jan 18, 2017 | In the News

Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School in Cheektowaga is busy preparing for Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 30 through Feb. 3. The week will feature daily educational themes and tours for families considering MQA and Catholic education.

“Instead of hosting a traditional open house event, MQA will be open throughout Catholic Schools Week to families who would like to see our school, teachers and students in action,” said Principal Kristen Hada. “Tours will be offered from 8:15 a.m. until 2 p.m. Jan. 30 through Feb. 3, and you do not need to make an appointment. If you cannot make it in during school hours, please call the school office at 895-6280 to schedule a private tour.”

Daily themes during Catholic Schools Week will include the following:
Monday: My Favorite Book and Book Character Day. Students are invited to bring in their favorite book and dress up as one of the characters in the book.
Tuesday: School Spirit Day. Students can wear their favorite team jersey to school, and all students will take part in grade-level Olympics.
Wednesday: White Out Day. Students will wear white to school and participate in a special STREAM Design Brief Day.
Thursday: Dress to Impress Day. This is a special dress up day, and students will also make Valentine’s crafts that will be sent to the Felician Infirmary and Nursing Home.
Friday: Welcome to the Jungle! Students can wear their favorite animal print or safari outfit to school and will participate in science-related activities.

Cheektowaga’s only Catholic elementary school, Mary Queen of Angels offers Universal Pre-K, kindergarten and grades one through eight and serves students from Cheektowaga, Buffalo and several suburbs. The school is conveniently located at 170 Rosewood Terrace, off George Urban Boulevard and a block east of Harlem Road.

During tours of the school, guests will have an opportunity to see the innovative Media Arts Center and classroom technology, music and art rooms, science lab and much more. Half- and full-day student shadowing opportunities can also be scheduled by calling the school.

Mary Queen of Angels offers a very affordable after-school program; hot breakfast and lunch programs; Spanish language lessons beginning in kindergarten; numerous sports teams, clubs and extracurricular activities; and an active Home School Association. Generous tuition and financial aid packages are available to families that qualify.
