The McAuley Chapter of National Honor Society (NHS) at Mount Mercy Academy hosted its annual induction on March 29 at the Mercy Center Auditorium. Nineteen new junior members were inducted, joining 12 seniors who were previously inducted. Membership in the National Honor Society is based on excellence in knowledge, scholarship, leadership, service and character. The National Honor Society was started in 1921 and there are over 20,000 chapters worldwide.

Senior NHS members who were installed previously explained the history of National Honor Society and described what the five pillars of NHS mean. Co-moderator Douglas Webster presented the candidates for membership and Head of School Michele Melligan draped the NHS stoles on the inductees.

Ten Buffalo residents were inducted. Juniors Megan Amicone, Brenna Berhalter, Bridget Dougherty, Alexis Garmong, Elizabeth Godsoe, Catherine Klodzinski, Abigail Mailloux, Joelle Poleto, Jillian Schneck and Madison Serafini joined the McAuley Chapter of National Honor Society.

Paige Lapadat of Orchard Park, Olivia Fuller of West Seneca, Kennedy Cerrone of Colden, Trinity Kehoe and Corsinana Nardello of Derby, Gemma McIlroy and Fiona Tournour of Hamburg, Sophia Nasca of Eden and Natalie Vicaretti of Blasdell were the other junior inductees.
