Mount Mercy Academy will hold its 21st annual McAuley Gala at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 29. The event, Mount Mercy’s major fundraiser, will be held at the Orchard Park Country Club. This year’s theme is Homecoming: Celebrate the Past, Embrace the Future. The gala raises money for student scholarships and educational advancements.
The evening will begin with passed hors d’oeuvres and an open bar and will feature a three-course dinner. In addition, there will be a silent auction and a live auction. There will be nearly 100 silent auction items, including golf foursomes, spa treatments and overnight stays in Ellicottville. Live auction packages will include visits to vacation homes in Ireland and Florida, family fun at the Great Wolf Lodge and trips to Baltimore and Toronto.
Chairing the event are Mary Clare Keenan, Jane Michalek Harrington and Michael Gluc. Keenan is the managing partner of the Keenan Law Firm and is a 1979 graduate of Mount Mercy. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Grassroots Gardens of Western New York. Harrington, a 1992 graduate of Mount Mercy, is a partner at Michalek & Harrington Law Firm. She practices law with her father and her husband. She is also the proud mother of two future Mount Mercy graduates, junior Olivia and freshman Grace. Gluc is the president of Northeastern Appraisal Associates Commercial.
The guest auctioneer for the evening will be Kevin O’Connell, chief meteorologist at WGRZ-TV.
