Mount Mercy Academy recently held its First Quarter Honors Assembly, where Athletic Director Douglas Webster announced that 63 girls were named scholar athletes for the fall season. Scholar-athletes must be members of the team and attain an overall average of 90 or above for the quarter.
Eighteen members of the cheerleading team were honored, along with 13 members from the varsity soccer team. There were eight girls from the crew team and seven members of the varsity volleyball team who achieved scholar-athlete status. There were also six scholar-athletes on the cross country and JV Volleyball teams and five on the golf team.
Representing the varsity soccer team were seniors Megan Cycon, Alesia Hamm, Angelina Pacholczak, Mariah Rullan and Madeline Szwed; sophomores Emily Kessler, Gianna Lauciello and Megan Reilly; and freshmen Madison Edwards, Lily Janik, Amaya Milkowski, Aubrey Monaco and Mya Wood.
Juniors Brigid Burke, Sara Geiser, Elizabeth Lang, Allysyn Pajek, Olivia Seifert, and Amanda Songin, and sophomore Catherine Zak, were the members of the varsity volleyball team who achieved scholar-athlete status.
Sophomores Angelina Larivey, Megan Quinn and Emma Wilson, along with freshmen Darian Boyer, Grace Spero and Mary Vattes, were the six members of the junior varsity volleyball team who had averages of 90 and above for the first quarter.
Seniors Zoe Gonez, Emilie Harper, Julia Jaworski, Sarah Kobler, Allison Mazurkiewicz, Julia Orcutt, Jessica Osuch, Katherine Pappas, Abbigayle Reid, Breanna Sikora, Lauren Vogel and Lauren Zimmer; juniors Taya Conway and Krista Stephany; sophomore Nele Bredenbusch; and freshmen Erin Elminowski, Brooke Hawks and Carolyn O’Keefe were the 18 members of the cheerleading squad who had averages of 90 or above.
Seniors Chloe Diebold and Haley George, juniors Madeline DiGiore and Xoie Ferrentino and freshman Elisabeth Radwan were named scholar athletes from the golf team.
Representing the cross country team as scholar-athletes were juniors Grace Harrington, Kathleen Hughes, Megan Jobson and Isabella Morcelle and sophomores Megan Jozwiak and Rheanna Welsh.
Senior Kathryn Bergmann; juniors Elizabeth Higgins, Erin Jackson, Elizabeth Lang, Jillian Kotwica, Chloe Freedenberg-McHugh and Natalie Redmond; and freshman Sydney Gunner were recognized from the crew team.
Members of the sports teams also received their letters and pins, as well as special awards for Most Valuable and Most Improved Athletes and the Coach’s Award winners.
