The McAuley Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) at Mount Mercy Academy recently hosted its annual induction in the Mercy Center Auditorium. Eighteen new members, 17 juniors and one senior, were inducted, joining 15 seniors who were previously inducted.

Membership in the National Honor Society is based on excellence in knowledge, scholarship, leadership, service and character. The National Honor Society was started in 1921 and there are over 20,000 chapters worldwide.

The senior NHS members who were installed previously explained the history of National Honor Society and described what the five pillars of NHS mean. Co-moderator Douglas Webster presented the candidates for membership and Head of School Michele Melligan draped the NHS stoles on the inductees, while co-moderator Patrick Govern presented the inductees with their membership certificates.

The newly inducted members of Mount Mercy Academy McAuley Chapter of National Honor Society are senior Na (Linda) Li and juniors Gabrielle Bauerlein, Analis Baumgarden, Amelia Cook, Tylie Czerniak, Zoe Czerniak, Alexis Dintino, Allyson Frascella, Mia Freedenberg, Ellie Hart, Mara Held, Erin Hudson, Taylor Jahn, Novella Keem, Maeve Lickfeld, Kendall Markiewicz, Isabelle Reaska and Sophia Zgoda.
