Emily Kessler

Mount Mercy Academy’s Emily Kessler (West Seneca), a four-year member of the basketball team, was recently named a Top 100 Scholar Athlete. She was selected from all senior athletes across Western New York, both male and female and from both public and private schools. To be nominated, an athlete must have achieved a 90-plus average for the previous six semesters and have been a starter or significant player in their winter sport.

Kessler, a First Team All-Catholic in basketball this season, is also a top student and a member of National Honor Society. She concluded her three-year varsity basketball career with over 500 points and 500 rebounds.

“Emily is a high-character young lady who was a pleasure to coach and be around. She has been a great role model for her teammates, especially the underclassmen,” Coach John Glose commented. “I have no doubt that she will be successful in all she attempts in the future.”

A member of the soccer team as well, Kessler was an Honorable Mention WNY Scholar Athlete this fall. She is the daughter of Lisa and Joe Kessler of West Seneca and will be attending Ohio State University in the fall.

Seniors Megan Reilly (Buffalo) and Cecelia Strang (Westfield), also members of the Magic basketball team, were recognized as Honorable Mention Winter Scholar Athletes for their performance on the court and in the classroom.
