Several Mount Mercy Academy athletes earned individual honors during the fall season. The Magic had four soccer players named to the B Division First Team All-Catholic team and one volleyball player earned Honorable Mention recognition.
Headlining the soccer All-Catholics was senior Rosie Bandura (West Seneca). Despite having her season curtailed by a broken bone in her foot, Bandura still earned a spot on the First Team. Her injury prevented her from an unprecedented third selection as Player of the Year, but she still finished her career with three First Team All-Catholic nods. Bandura finished the season with 16 goals and four assists in just six games. She finished her career with 53 goals and 19 assists. Bandura signed a National Letter of Intent to play soccer for Mercyhurst University next year.
Junior Ellie Hart (Buffalo) moved up from the Second Team last year to the First Team. She was a member of the Magic’s excellent defense and Hart was often tasked with guarding the opposition’s top goal scorer. She also contributed two assists.
Junior Meghan Bell (Buffalo) and sophomore Emma Godsoe (Buffalo) were named to the First Team for the first time this year. Bell was another member of the tenacious defense and used her speed to stifle the other team’s attack. Godsoe showed excellent soccer awareness, playing midfield. She was a strong defender and had a knack for knowing where to pass the ball and where to be on the field to make the smart play.
Senior Lacey Sheehan (Orchard Park) was an Honorable Mention All-Catholic in volleyball. This season she was the team’s top front row player, leading the team in kills and blocks, along with contributing a strong serve.
Earlier in the fall, senior Addison Barth (Hamburg) returned to the First Team for golf, finishing in a tie for first at the All-Catholic Championships. In addition, she was also an All-Catholic in tennis, finishing third in the All-Catholic Singles Championship. Sheehan was also a First Team All-Catholic in golf.
Freshman Lauren Seifert (Orchard Park) finished sixth in the All-Catholic Cross Country Championships, earning First Team All-Catholic status.
