National wrestling champs returning to WNY

Empire State Wrestling returns to North Tonawanda on Sept. 28.

Empire State Wrestling (ESW) will return to the St. Johnsburg Fire Hall, 7165 Ward Road, North Tonawanda, on Saturday, Sept. 28 for “Overdrive.”

The following wrestlers are scheduled to appear:

• One half of the current Evolve Tag Team Champions, AR Fox will face Beyond Wrestling’s “Blue Thunder” Jay Freddie in an Ilio DiPaolo Cup qualifier match.

• One half of the current Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions, Ethan Page will take on Buffalo’s Puf in an Ilio DiPaolo Cup qualifier match.

• Former Handcrafted tag team partners R.J. City and Gregory Iron will continue their feud by facing off in a death match.

• ESW Interstate Champion Frankie Feathers will defend his title against Tonawanda native “The Big Bang” Jerk Cockins.

• ESW Heavyweight Champion Daniel Garcia will be in action as well as viral star “None of a Kind” Anthony Gaines, ESW Commissioner The Caesar and Albion’s “Unkillable” Kevin Blackwood, plus many more of ESW’s stars.

Second row tickets are $20. General admission tickets are $15. Front row tickets are sold out. Doors open at 5 p.m. with bell time at 6 p.m. “Overdrive” will be recorded for ESW’s live streaming feeds.

ESW promotes eight shows a year, primarily held at the St. Johnsburg Fire Hall in North Tonawanda, boasting crowds of over 400 fans. Larger “super show” events have been held at the Kenan Center in Lockport and the Frontier Fire Hall in Niagara Falls, N.Y., drawing crowds up to 1,000.
