Newly expanded arts festival takes shape in Lackawanna

Sep 13, 2019 | Entertainment

The annual Arts on Ridge Festival will kick off at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, along Ridge Road between South Park Avenue and Franklin Street in Lackawanna.

New this year, Picture Your Walls Custom Framing and Gallery will be hosting a giant community art project, “Chalk It Up,” in a side parking lot off Ridge Road by Colton Avenue. Chalk It Up is a nod to the late artist Vincent Van Gogh, where all are invited to grab a  piece of chalk and fill in a portion of one of his works of art, the result being a giant replica of one of his paintings at over 25 square feet.

Also, this year the street will contain over 70 local artisans, food and beverage vendors, and live music. A Kid’s Corner will be provided by the Lackawanna School District which will include games and crafts. The day will also showcase a few local performing arts schools in dance and theater, as well as live music by various bands over the course of the day. This event is free to attend and brought to you by the Southtowns Regional Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lackawanna.

If you are interested in being a vendor at the show or for more information regarding this event, please contact the Southtowns Regional Chamber of Commerce at 649-7917.
