NFIEC, school counselors to host Career Exploration Night for students

Oct 12, 2021 | Events

The Niagara Frontier Industry Education Council (NFIEC), in partnership with middle and high school counselors’ associations from across Western New York, will present a Career Exploration Night for students from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, in the Walden Galleria. The event will take place on the mall’s lower level, between Five Guys and Bravo.

This free event will highlight more than 40 career opportunities commonly available in Western New York. Guests will learn about the educational requirements and have an opportunity to talk to area professionals and learn about a typical day in their work life.

“Over 40 local business professionals and teachers are donating their time to help our middle and high school students and their families learn about many interesting careers right here in our community,” said NFIEC Executive Director Kelly Oldenburg. “They’ll have a unique opportunity to talk one-on-one with career professionals representing a wide variety of industries, including many trades.”

Additionally, several of the career professionals will offer participants an opportunity to visit their workplace for a shadowing opportunity and a chance to see the activity first hand.

The Career Exploration Night is not a career fair or recruiting event. The mission of NFIEC and the participating counselors is to provide a chance to learn about available careers.
