The total is in! Northwood Elementary School in West Seneca raised a grand total of $4,392.25 this year for their fight against cancer through Bald for Bucks. This year’s top fundraisers were Trevor Felker ($1,120), Dylan Clough ($625), Lauren and Molly Helper ($355) and Aiden Summers ($350).
Two very special moments occurred during the event. Lauren Helper, a teacher at the school, and her 3-year-old daughter Molly, who never had a haircut up to that point, had their hair cut simultaneously. Molly couldn’t help but smile the entire time she was sitting in her chair. What a memorable first haircut! Also, Carol Angiers, who is fighting breast cancer, was proud to see 100 percent of her class participate in the event. Six of her boys had their heads shaved while the rest of her class had their hair sprayed purple.
The school held their Bald for Bucks event on March 11 in the school gym. A total of 15 shaved their heads, the Helper’s donated their hair to Locks of Love and over 200 students had their hair sprayed with purple hairspray. Since their first Bald for Bucks event held during the 2011-12 school year, Northwood has raised $39,169.75!
Thank you to Corto’s Salon for providing haircuts, to all the volunteers who helped make the event a success and to everyone who donated to this cause!
