A party and vendor market in celebration of WNY healthcare heroes will be held in the M Hotel ballroom on Wednesday, Oct. 11. The organizers last held the event in May of 2019.
“We had to pause from 2020 to 2022 due to the pandemic, remarked Paul D. Maurer, manager of the event, “but this means that our 2023 event will be bigger, with emphasis on all the healthcare heroes that got us through the Covid-19 disaster!”
The newly-remodeled M Hotel (formerly the Millennium Hotel) ballroom and access hallways will be filled with exhibits, food sampling, beverage tasting, shopping, apparel, jewelry makers, crafters and entertainment. It will be called “Nurses’ Night – Celebrating ALL our Healthcare Heroes” and will go from 5 to 9 p.m.
Fifty exhibitor/sponsors will range from hospitals to healthcare clinics and many will feature games and freebies to make it an exciting night.
Kaleida Health will be hosting a free chocolate lounge with comfortable seating and delicious chocolates from a fine area chocolatier. They will be talking about careers in nursing and other fields that are being sought for their WNY facilities.
BestSelf Behavioral Health will host a photo booth for folks to jump in and take some memorable pictures of their colleagues who can dress up for the camera.
McGuire Group/Absolute Care Living Legends will feature a large prize wheel and attendees can spin the wheel for gift cards, merchandise and branded items.
BryLin Hospital will be serving up a delightful “Dose of Kindness” starting with stickers, designed to kickstart heartwarming conversations while learning more about their many mental health services. Also, check out their “Good Vibes Board,” a canvas where positivity meets creativity, and you’re the artist!
CeraVe will feature a booth of skincare products and have experts to discuss the science behind the brand and to help navigate which products would help people the best with any skin conditions they may face.
Basil Family Dealerships will show off some of the latest vehicles with modern convenience, entertainment and safety features.
Legendary broadcast personality John Murphy will appear live at the event, autographing his just-published book “If These Walls Could Talk: Stories from the Buffalo Bills Sideline, Locker Room, and Press Box.” Murphy’s book, co-authored with Scott Pitoniak, a veteran sports columnist from Rochester, is full of stories that any Buffalo sports fan would love to read. Books will be available for sale with all proceeds going to nurses’ charities. Murphy has been recovering from a stroke since late December 2022. He hopes to return to play-by-play during the 2023 Buffalo Bills season. Pitoniak will join Murphy at the signing, scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Classic Hits 104.1 will be announcing the top three individuals who were nominated for the UnitedHealthcare WNY Healthcare Hero Awards. These were healthcare employees that endured through the many hardships of the Covid-19 pandemic. The winners, who will receive cash and gift card rewards, will be introduced on the Trocaire stage by Classic Hits morning personality Laura Daniels.
Tickets for the Oct. 11 event are available for $9.50 (includes fee) at www.NursesNightofCelebration.com. The event is open to all healthcare workers from doctors to nurses to caregivers, first responders, facilities people and their friends.
