An Open House, Kentucky Derby Luncheon and Victorian Dance Workshop highlight a fun-filled May calendar at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, located at 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road in Amherst.

The annual Open House is a free event from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 5, featuring tables from all of the organization’s creative guilds and information on how you can become involved at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village. Guests will also find information on renting the museum, becoming a member or sponsor, getting involved as a volunteer, and all of Heritage Village’s upcoming events! Brief guided tours will be offered at 6:15 and 6:30 p.m. Guests will also have an opportunity to meet the staff, Board of Trustees, volunteers, and twin Jersey calves Jack and Flynn! There will be a report to the community presentation from 7 to 8 p.m. and a reception of coffee, tea, water and goodies.

The Ballroom at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village will be the setting for the Kentucky Derby Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7. The event is hosted by the Amherst Women’s Interclub Council and all proceeds will benefit the museum’s historic buildings. This year’s event will take place on Derby Day and will include a hat fashion show and hat sale by Pamela, Inc., basket raffle, and lunch provided by Banchetti by Rizzo’s. The Amherst Women’s Interclub Council will also be honoring Deborah Habes and Roseanne Butler Smith, co-chairwomen for the Williamsville Library Gala. Don’t forget to wear those hats! Tickets are $30 and can be reserved by calling Heritage Village at (716) 689-1440.

Participants will learn six Victorian dances and Victorian culture and etiquette taught by members of the Amherst Victorian Dance Society in period dress during the Victorian Dance Workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 21. This event is for teens, seniors and in-betweens, singles and couples, and those dressed casual or in period attire. The event is free, but reservations are encouraged.
