Dog Ears Bookstore and Café, located at 688 Abbott Road In South Buffalo, is proud to announce the rebirth of its 4th Friday Poetry Night with host Tim Joyce beginning March 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is $5, with all donations supporting literacy and educational programming at the nonprofit bookstore.
Every fourth Friday of the month, Joyce will host and emcee a night of original poetry featuring one or more featured poets. This will be followed by 10 open mic slots, filled on a first come first served basis. Featured poets will be given a chance to showcase their work for 15 to 20 minutes, while open mic slots entitle the reader to present up to three poems, or approximately seven minutes of work. Poets are encouraged to present any work they choose, old or new, or simply read their favorite poems from other authors. Spoken word writing is also welcome.
Originally conceived and operated by local poet Fred Whitehead, 4th Friday Poetry at Dog Ears Bookstore has been a beloved fixture on the Buffalo literary scene for more than 15 years. Joyce, South Buffalo born and raised, is honored to be filling Whitehead’s prestigious shoes and bringing this wonderful event back!
Those interested in being featured poets can reach Joyce via email at Ti*******@GM***.com.
