Rochester Knighthawks General Manager and Vice President of Lacrosse Operations Dan Carey announced recently the acquisition of goaltender Doug Buchan from the Buffalo Bandits in exchange for the team’s third-round pick in the 2026 NLL Entry Draft, pending league approval.
Buchan spent the last four seasons in Buffalo, where he totaled 32 saves over 54 minutes in a combined 23 appearances.
He made his NLL debut with the Philadelphia Wings during the 2018-19 campaign, appearing in 17 games and posting a .749 save percentage with a 13.17 goals-against average. Originally a second-round selection (18th overall) of the Saskatchewan Rush in the 2015 NLL Entry Draft, Buchan also added five assists in just over 810 minutes of game action in 2018-19.
The St. Catharines, Ontario, native led all Major Series Lacrosse goaltenders in save percentage (.844) and goals-against average (6.27) in nine games for the Peterborough Lakers in 2018. His 8-1 record ranked second in the league and Buchan won in his only playoff appearance that year.
In 2022, Buchan backstopped the Lakers to their fourth straight MSL tittle and Mann Cup, earning the John “Shooter” Davis Award as Most Valuable Player of the MSL Playoffs.
