A senior from Mount Mercy Academy was recently honored as Western New York Scholar Athlete for the spring season. Recent graduate Rosalie Bandura of West Seneca was one of the top 100 senior athletes. Bandura was selected from all of the senior male and female athletes from both public and private schools throughout Western New York. To be nominated, the athlete must have achieved a 90-plus average for the previous six semesters and been a starter or significant player in their spring sport.
Bandura capped off her amazing athletic and academic career at Mount Mercy with this selection. She was honored for her success in academics while competing in lacrosse. In addition, she also competed in track during the spring season. She was a second team All-Catholic in lacrosse and was an All-Catholic in track as well.
Bandura, who will play soccer collegiately at Mercyhurst University, was also the school’s Senior Athlete and the Booster Club’s Mount Mercy Athlete of the Year.
