The second annual South Buffalo Walk for Hope, an event to raise awareness of depression, addiction and mental illness and to reduce the societal stigma attached to these issues, will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 20 in Cazenovia Park.
The event will feature a 1.5-mile walk plus a post-walk rally in the park featuring free activities for children, music, food trucks, theme basket raffle and silent auction. Proceeds will benefit local mental health groups and depression and substance abuse programs chosen by South Buffalo families affected by related deaths.
Walkers are asked to pre-register online at www.southbuffalowalkforhope.com by May 13. Registration for the event is free, but the first 300 who donate $15 or more will receive a commemorative walk T-shirt. Registration on the day of the event will begin at 9 a.m.
If you would like to submit the name of a loved one you have lost, please email so*********************@gm***.com or go to the group’s website and submit the person’s name to be remembered and read at the start of the walk.
