Shea’s Performing Arts Center recently announced the 2023-24 Frey Electric Season at Shea’s 710 Theatre. The upcoming season will include three productions: The Color Purple (Ujima Company, Inc., Second Generation Theatre, and Shea’s 710 Theatre), Plaid Tidings (O’Connell & Company), and Once (MusicalFare Theatre).

“We are thrilled to bring these three dynamic productions to Shea’s 710 Theatre for the 2023-24 Frey Electric Season,” said Robert H. Brunschmid, Vice President of Operations at Shea’s Performing Arts Center. “Each show promises to deliver a unique and unforgettable experience for theatergoers, and we can’t wait to share these stories with our community.”

2023 – 24 Frey Electric Season at Shea’s 710 Theatre Season includes:

The Color Purple
Produced by Ujima Company, Inc., Second Generation Theatre, and Shea’s 710 Theatre
Sept. 14 – Oct. 1
This musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel spotlights Celie, a downtrodden young woman whose personal awakening over the course of 40 years forms the arc of this epic story. With a joyous score featuring jazz, ragtime, gospel, African music and blues, The Color Purple is a story of hope, a testament to the healing power of love, and a celebration of life.

Plaid Tidings
Produced by O’Connell & Company
Dec. 7-17
Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings is the hit holiday musical that continues the story of the singing group whose lives were lost in an accident involving a busload of nuns en route to perform on the “The Ed Sullivan Show.” The heaven-sent boys (Sparky, Smudge, Jinx, and Frankie) are back from heaven to sing songs of the ’30s, ’40s, ’50s, and a “Plaid-erized” version of Christmas specials to fulfill their mission of creating a little harmony in a troubled world.

Once
Produced by MusicalFare Theatre
May 2-19, 2024
Once features an impressive ensemble of actor/musicians who play their own instruments onstage and tells the enchanting tale of a Dublin street musician who’s about to give up on his dream when a beautiful young woman takes a sudden interest in his haunting love songs.

Season tickets are on sale now. For more information on the Frey Electric 2023-24 Season at Shea’s 710 Theatre, visit www.sheas.org or follow Shea’s 710 Theatre on Facebook and Instagram.
