Wagging tails picking weekly winners? That’s what will be happening every week Aug. 13 through Sept. 10, as the SPCA Serving Erie County brings to Buffalo the first-ever Tennis Ball Toss, where the winners are selected by adoptable dogs!
Here’s how it works: Now through Sept. 10, numbered tennis balls can be purchased through the SPCA. Every Tuesday at 1 p.m., the SPCA will release video of all tennis balls purchased the week prior tossed into the dog play yard located at the 300 Harlem Road, West Seneca site. Then we release the hound! Whichever tennis ball the adoptable dog selects is the winner! If it’s a blank tennis ball, the prize rolls over to the following week.
On Tuesday, Sept. 10, in addition to the regular weekly tennis ball toss, there will be a grand finale drawing from every tennis ball purchased through 9 a.m. Sept. 10.
Weekly prizes are $100 (weeks 2 and 4 include a $100 Petique gift card), and the grand finale winner puts paws on a $500 prize! Tennis balls are served at $10 each, 3 for $25, 5 for $40, or 10 for $80. All proceeds benefit the SPCA’s 31st annual PAWS IN THE PARK walk happening Saturday, Sept. 21, helping the SPCA raise crucial funds for the animals and families being helped by the organization.
