SPCA launches Fresh Start adoption special

Dec 31, 2025 | Events

Prospective adopters are encouraged to visit the shelter during regular business hours.

The SPCA Serving Erie County is ringing in the new year by giving some of its residents a fresh start! Beginning Jan. 2, the SPCA will implement a special $25 adoption fee for any animal that is one year old or older and has been in the shelter’s care since 2025.

By reducing adoption fees to $25, the SPCA hopes to inspire the community to open their hearts and homes to these patient pets.

“Our goal is to ensure that no animal spends a day longer in a cage or kennel than they have to,” says Zak Sprowls, Adoptions and Foster Care Manager of the SPCA Serving Erie County. “While we hope that there will be many adoptions this week, the reality is that many of our 2025 residents will still be in their kennels when the clock strikes midnight on Jan. 1. This special is about changing that story and making sure their first few days of 2026 are their last ones spent in a shelter!”

Fresh Start special details:
What: $25 adoption fees for any animal one year old or older admitted to the SPCA in 2025.
When: Starting Friday, Jan. 2 and concluding Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026.
Where: SPCA Serving Erie County, 300 Harlem Road, West Seneca.
Who: All animals, including dogs, cats and small animals (standard adoption procedures still apply).

Each adoption at the SPCA Serving Erie County includes a physical exam, spay/neuter surgery, up-to-date vaccinations, a microchip, and a bag of Purina food to help the pet transition into their new home.

Prospective adopters are encouraged to visit the shelter during regular business hours or view adoptable pets online at YourSPCA.org.
