No matter what your school choice is this fall, Tonawanda Dance Arts has a program that’s right for you and your child! They are offering traditional in-studio classes with social distancing and SaferStudio guidelines in place, distance learning classes with their new state-of-the-art TechEnabled equipment, and the option to create your own private or semi-private class with their brand new Create a Class program!
“With COVID-19 still posing a concern in our area, not all of our families are 100% comfortable with in-studio classes at this point,” says Melanie, owner of Tonawanda Dance Arts. “The fact that we are now TechEnabled allows students to take class from anywhere at any time with high-quality video and audio. Plus, they can still see their friends and gain an emotional connection which is so important during these times.”
Research shows that the mental and emotional well-being of children is critical in their overall success physiologically and academically. Dancing encourages students to be creative and express themselves in many ways. By encouraging creativity and imagination, children learn to build trust, effective relationships, and critical thinking skills. Plus, it’s a great way to keep your children moving and physically active.
Tonawanda Dance Arts is encouraging any new families that may be homeschooling in the fall to consider distance learning as a physical fitness/exercise component of their course requirements. Classes are 30 to 45 minutes and participants have access to the class replays which are posted on TDA’s password-protected E-Learning Platform. All in-studio classes are also live-streamed using their brand new state-of-the-art technology, which allows distance learning students to participate in class at the same time as in-person students.
Tonawanda Dance Arts is an affiliated member of More Than Just Great Dancing, an organization that holds its members to a higher standard of dance education including quality curriculum, teacher training, management practices, and community involvement. More than 300 of MTJGD studios across the world have now transitioned to hybrid learning. In addition, TDA follows the SaferStudio guidelines put in place by MTJGD, which prioritize a hierarchy of safety and wellness measures.
Lastly, Tonawanda Dance Arts is also the first dance studio in the region to achieve Youth Protection Advocates in Dance certification. To earn the designation, studios must complete training in CPR, first aid, dance education and safety, injury prevention, emergency preparedness, abuse awareness and prevention, dancer wellness and development, social media safety, nutrition and disordered eating, bullying, and conflict resolution.
