Two helpful technical service bulletins

Subject: 2009-2011 Acura TSX L4 Engine Warranty Extension

Vehicles affected by this service bulletin:
• 2009 TSX L4
• 2010 TSX L4
• 2011 TSX L4

The problem: On affected vehicles, owners may find that the engine oil is low on the dipstick and the oil level light will illuminate on the dash. This can be due to deposits forming on the oil control rings and causing them to stick in place. If this happens, the engine oil that lubricates the cylinder walls runs through the ring gaps and into the combustion chambers, where it is burned and consumed, thus lowering engine oil levels. Over time, the engine will sustain cylinder wall damage.

Corrective action: On vehicles where excessive engine oil loss is evident, dealers will run an engine oil consumption test to confirm that the condition exists. If confirmed, dealers will replace all of the engine’s pistons and piston rings. If the cylinder walls are found to exhibit deep scratches, dealers will replace the engine block as well.

Warranty info: Repairs will be covered under the provisions of this extended warranty (eight years or 125,000 miles, whichever comes first from the original vehicle in-service date).

What owners should do: Call your local dealer with your vehicle’s Vehicle ID Number (VIN) to determine if your vehicle is involved in this extended warranty. You can also call Acura at 1-800-382-2238. Reference TSB number 13-006.
