Three upcoming events in February and March will showcase the wide ranging activities that regularly take place at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, located at 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road in Amherst.
Heritage Village is pleased to announce that it will host its second annual First Ladies Tea from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11. The event will pay homage to our region’s female political leaders and recognize local historical figures such as First Lady Abigail Fillmore and First Lady Frances Cleveland. The First Ladies Tea will feature a traditional English tea menu, as well as a performance by Denise Reichard as First Lady Dolley Madison. Tickets are priced at $30 for members and $35 for nonmembers; tables of 10 can be reserved for $300. Reservations are required by Feb. 8. In the event of a snowstorm, this event will be held on Feb. 12.
The artwork of more than 300 Williamsville students in kindergarten through grade 12 will be on display March 13-18 at the annual Williamsville District Art Show. Opening receptions for the event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. March 13 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 14. The art show will be open to the public during those times and during regular business hours March 15-18. Admission to the art show is free. Access to the museum and village is $6 for adults and $4 for seniors, military and children.
New York State Maple Weekend, featuring delicious pancake breakfasts, will take place at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village March 25-26. This is an interactive event that is fun for the entire family, so come for breakfast and stay to learn about all things maple!
Maple Weekend will feature lumberjack breakfasts (seating promptly at 9:30 and 11 a.m.), maple science demonstrations (tree science, leaf reading and pressing, soil testing, tree medallions and an art corner), and a new maple sugar tour led by maple sugar experts and Heritage Village’s oxen, Jack and Flynn. The museum and village will be open with demonstrations by costumed interpreters, the Woodwrights Guild, and the NYS Designer Blacksmiths. Programming will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
