Vocális Chamber Choir is thrilled to present a program honoring the creative craft
of composition in its presentation of Contemporary Voices. The concert will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1080 Main St., Buffalo.
“The choral landscape is rich with exciting, beautiful and intriguing new works,” says Vocális Director Jamie Burritt. “Contemporary Voices seeks to draw connections between WNY choirs and talented, active composers who live and work here. The concert features Buffalo- and Rochester-based composers Caroline Mallonee, Roland Martin and Cary Ratcliff. Vocális will be joined by several area high school choirs, each preparing a piece in collaboration with a current composer. A powerful event, not to be missed!”
The music of other contemporary choral composers is also featured, including Abbie Betinis, Joanne Metcalf, Luke Flynn, Thomas LaVoy and Don Macdonald. Vocális is excited to bring these musical voices to its audience, and to inspire the choirs from Amherst High School, Grand Island High School and Lewiston-Porter High School.
