The West Seneca Chamber of Commerce is growing, and the nonprofit business organization hopes to expand into nearby South Buffalo.
“It makes a lot of sense,” said Joe Kirchmyer, executive director of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. “Many of our streets start in West Seneca and end in South Buffalo. A lot of our students attend Bishop Timon – St. Jude High School, Mount Mercy Academy and Trocaire College, and many of us took our very first breath at Mercy Hospital. Our organization has an office, staff and approximately two dozen educational and networking programs annually, and we’d like to encourage South Buffalo businesses, organizations and residents to join us and take advantage of these offerings.”
The West Seneca Chamber of Commerce is located in the West Seneca Community Center & Library at 1300 Union Road. In addition to Kirchmyer, the staff includes Community Development Coordinator Jerry Hathaway and Executive Assistant Jessica Moskal. The Chamber is governed by an 11-member volunteer board of directors.
Major events held each year include the Community Awards Dinner in February, Women In Business Luncheon in April/May, Golf Tournament in August and Taste of West Seneca in September. The Chamber also hosts the GEICO Power Lunch Series featuring six business luncheons with speakers, monthly webinars through the Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York, and special events such as ConnectLife blood drives and events for children and families. And in 2020, the Chamber hopes to add a series of breakfast networking events exclusively for Chamber members.
“We have Chamber members from not just West Seneca but all over Western New York,” Kirchmyer added. “But with its proximity to West Seneca, we are beginning to see more and more South Buffalo businesses join us and take advantage of the many benefits of membership. We hope to grow that number significantly in the 2020 calendar year.”
