In an effort to assist and help replenish our local food pantries, the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce will host a food drive through Friday, Jan. 29.
“Due to the ongoing pandemic and resulting high unemployment rate, our local food banks are under a great deal of stress,” said Joe Kirchmyer, executive director of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. “And now that Thanksgiving and Christmas are over, we’re sure that many people probably have some extra cans of soup and vegetables, boxes of stuffing mix, jars of gravy and other delicious items that they can part with to help someone in our own community. We hope that both residents and our entire business community will take part!”
To encourage donations, every donor will receive two free West Seneca Chamber of Commerce 2021 Discount Cards ($10 value) as an incentive. These reusable cards feature special discount offers from 20 local shops, restaurants and services. Additionally, all donors will be entered into a raffle to win a cutting board, lantern and set of West Seneca coasters courtesy of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce and Shell Fab Countertops & Casework.
Nonperishable food items can be dropped off at the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce office in the West Seneca Community Center & Library, 1300 Union Road, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Pick-ups for larger donations can be arranged by contacting the Chamber of Commerce at 674-4900.
