Two West Seneca holiday traditions — the annual tree, wreath and art auction and the Community Holiday Party — are both scheduled to take place in December.
The sixth annual Christmas Tree & Holiday Art Auction, sponsored by the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce and the West Seneca Art Society, will take place Dec. 1-12 in the Martha Burchfield Richter Atrium within the West Seneca Community Center & Library, 1300 Union Road.
This year’s auction will feature yet another new twist. In addition to bidding on beautifully decorated Christmas trees and wreaths and artwork donated by members of the West Seneca Art Society, participants will have an opportunity to bid on nine paintings that were featured as part of the recent BurchFest 2025 event in West Seneca. These nine paintings by artists Marion Reitmeier, Herb Graff and Jane Galley were left behind in sold homes on Schultz Road and generously donated to the Chamber of Commerce by the Greenan, Bebak and Harfouche families. During BurchFest, their artwork was displayed at Western New York Federal Credit Union in an exhibit called “Uncovered Treasures: Art from West Seneca’s Past.”
In addition to the donated artwork, other holiday items up for auction, decorated by local businesses and organizations, will include the following:
• Four Christmas trees courtesy of Axiom Coaching, West Seneca Chamber of Commerce, West Seneca Girl Scout Troop 32354 and the West Seneca Lions Club.
• Ten holiday wreaths courtesy of the Burchfield Nature & Art Center, GEICO Local Office West Seneca, Kate’s Cookies, NRT Sales, Rotary Club of West Seneca, Schwabl’s, Spectrum Health & Human Services, Western New York Federal Credit Union, West Seneca Kiwanis Club and the West Seneca PBA.
There are three ways to bid on the holiday items and artwork beginning Dec. 1:
1. Send a private message to the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
2. Call the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce at (716) 674-4900.
3. Fill out a bid form on the table outside the Chamber of Commerce office in the West Seneca Community Center & Library.
Bids will be accepted until noon Friday, Dec. 12. Bid updates for all items will be shown daily on the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce Facebook page and in the Community Center.
Winning bidders can remove their items from the Community Center beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15 by contacting the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce at (716) 674-4900. Removal is the responsibility of the winner.
West Seneca service organizations participating in the annual Community Holiday Party and dinner taking place on Friday, Dec. 5 at Kloc’s Grove include the Art Society, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, Rotary Club and Woman’s Club. The Holiday Party will also include a basket auction and a silent auction featuring an additional 15 paintings by Reitmeier, Graff and Galley. Proceeds from this year’s festivities will benefit Dog Ears Bookstore, Fantastic Friends of WNY, Hope Chest and the West Seneca Joint Veterans Committee.
Tickets to the Community Holiday Party are $45 each or $400 for a table of 10.
