Last year, West Seneca’s Community Holiday Party, hosted annually by local service organizations, turned into a spur-of-the-moment Christmas Tree Auction thanks to pandemic restrictions related to large gatherings. The auction ended up being a huge success, with sizable donations made to both The SPCA Serving Erie County and Kids Escaping Drugs.
This year, the Christmas Tree Auction returns, and the event will be much bigger and better!
In addition to 10 Christmas trees that will be adopted and decorated by local businesses and organizations and auctioned off to the highest bidders in mid-December, members of the West Seneca Art Society will donate 10 pieces of seasonal artwork that will also be auctioned off to the highest bidders. This year, proceeds from the auctions will benefit the West Seneca Historical Society, Firemen’s Memorial Exhibit Center of WNY and the Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service.
A Christmas Tree & Holiday Art Experience from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, will officially kick off the festivities. Held in the West Seneca Community Center & Library at 1300 Union Road, attendees to this ticketed event will have the first opportunity to see the lighted trees and bid on both the trees and artwork. Public viewings and bidding will then open to the public beginning Dec. 5 and will continue through Dec. 15. Secret bids can be made at the Community Center & Library or by contacting the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce at 674-4900.
Those attending the Dec. 4 Christmas Tree & Holiday Art Experience will also enjoy food stations, beverage stations, holiday music by Grace Greenan and a silent auction organized by the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. Winners of the silent auction will leave the Dec. 4 event with their prizes. Highlights include a brand new electric guitar with amplifier and case, autographed Buffalo Bills photos, artwork, gift baskets and more.
Only 100 tickets will be sold for the Dec. 4 event at a cost of $25 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased in the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce office or by calling the Chamber at 674-4900. Cash and check payments are preferred to avoid credit card fees. Those paying for tickets by check should make their check out to the West Seneca Lions Club.
West Seneca service organizations taking part in the event include the Art Society, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, Rotary Club and Woman’s Club.
For updates, please follow the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce on Facebook. Businesses or organizations that would like to sponsor the event or donate to the silent auction can also contact the Chamber for details.
